One car of the train was used as a makeshift movie theater. “We’ve had some bizarre screening locations, like a moonlit beach on a Pacific island, but this beats them all,” said Franny Armstrong, the director of “The Age of Stupid,” an advocacy film set in the future that looks back at what she sees as the failures of the present generation to come to grips with the threat of climate change.
With no seats for the audience, Ms. Armstrong showed only the first 10 minutes of the movie, leaving those who wanted to see more of it to buy a copy for themselves. She did well, she said, but did not earn “quite enough for a train ticket back to London.”
Ms. Gannet, a former champion extreme skier and the founder of an organization called the Save Our Snow Foundation, collected dozens of signatures on a pair of skis that she carried on her back to signify concerns over the effect of global warming on winter snow packs.
Am I the only one who sees the utter tragecomedy of this little train wreck? The world of climate change research has come crashing down and people are still riding the rails about it.
